Materially Poor Parishes

The Heart of Jesus Beats with Compassion                                  For His People in Materially Poor Parishes

Since 1981, LAMP Missionaries have been serving in parishes where the materially poor live. Our role is to assist the pastor in the efforts of the parish to evangelize. Often this takes the form of forming evangelization teams to visit apartments in the neighborhood, taking a very brief survey and inviting the people to come to worship with the parish community. Some LAMP Missionaries also serve with the youth, train lectors to proclaim God’s Word, begin Scripture sharing groups, assist with religious education, etc. Poor parishes cannot afford to hire full salaried personnel in these areas, and LAMP Missionaries are privileged to serve in this capacity.
